American History Essay Contest

The Daughters of the American Revolution are also sponsoring an American History Essay Contest for all 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The theme for this year is:

Literacy Day

Celebrate reading and writing by bringing literacy to life with characters and costumes!

HOPE is celebrating Literacy Day on Wednesday, October 31st.

Encourage students to dress up as a favorite book character and bring the book to share with classmates and friends. Invite community celebrities to visit your Learning Center – in costume or not, and read aloud to your students.

The Colorado Pumpkin Patch

The Colorado Pumpkin Patch invites students to visit this season. Teachers are free and school group rates are $6 per child, which includes a pumpkin for each child.

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards were created by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and Prudential Financial to honor middle and high school students for outstanding acts of community service. Please see the attached document for much more information about the awards program. All students who have participated in community service are encouraged to complete the form at www.nassp.org/spirit. Forms should be submitted to Melanie Stone by November 6, 2012.
