HOPE AT APEX ACADEMY OPENS AS NEW DROP-IN
HIGH SCHOOL LEARNING SITE IN GREELEY

DENVER, CO – August 9, 2024 – HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op today announced that a new learning site, HOPE at Apex Academy, is now open and currently enrolling high school students for fall. Apex Academy serves as a drop-in site at 3830 West 10th Street in Greeley. HOPE curriculum is online, allowing students to learn anywhere with an internet connection, and Apex Academy is where students can come for extra assistance, meet with mentors, or engage with peers.

The location at 38th Street and West 10th Street is in a centralized area for students across Weld and Larimer counties. It offers students who lack transportation proximity to bus stops, access to local restaurants, and an open space for social events.

“Although we're a drop-in site, we are a welcoming community; we will host monthly social events at the school like movie nights, glow in the dark game night, pancake breakfasts, and scavenger hunts, so students feel supported and comfortable coming in," said Kimberly Cruz, Site Director of HOPE at Apex Academy. " We help students connect with resources to find success in their future, with college prospects, resume building, life skill presentations, and help researching post-high school career choices."

At HOPE, personalization is key. Each site director, mentor, and teacher work with students to build a plan that allows them to take online classes but also access in-person educational support, professional mentors, and experiential opportunities. HOPE provides two pathways to graduation, CORE24 and Workforce Readiness, allowing each student to prepare for the future in the best way possible.

Students or guardians can enroll online (www.hopeonline.org) or call (720) 219-0850 for more information. HOPE has learning sites around Colorado, providing blended education for kids in 6th through 12th grade. Apex Academy is focused on high school students, but can refer middle school students to other local sites.

For more than 20 years, HOPE has been a pioneer in online and hybrid education, long before the pandemic shifted the education landscape. HOPE provides a safe, caring space for students in 6th-12th grade that don't fit into a traditional school model. For example, it often serves kids who may be over-age and under-credit (not at grade level), need to work to support their families, or help their parents with childcare.

“Greeley has been an incredibly welcoming community full of people who recognize that school options are important,” added Heather O’Mara, founder and CEO of HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op. “Our team is ready for a great year helping students achieve great things in school and beyond.”

HOPE at Apex Academy also supports students who have faced school or legal issues, are bilingual or new to the country and haven’t settled in yet, or simply didn’t thrive in their local school. HOPE balances the need for quality education with flexibility and solid guidance to see struggling or nontraditional students through to graduation.

"A lot of students today do not have the conventional day-to-day lives that they did years ago. Many of our students have obligations to their own children, full-time jobs, and face social emotional struggles,” concluded Cruz. “Covid and the rapid growth of social media has made the world feel more unstable, and students need different options. HOPE Apex Academy is a wonderful solution to help students to grow into happy, successful adults.”
